S.O.S !!! Help needed for Pororo the cat with broken , wounded legs and sporo infection.

We received a heartbreaking message from a volunteer who discovered this cat with several wounds and a fractured hind leg in Putatan, Sabah.

Pororo, the cat, was safely turned over to our staff after the first vet at another pet clinic declined to treat him.

The cat was near death, suffering from agony, weakness, and extreme dehydration. Pororo's organ was going to shut down owing to dehydration, but thank goodness he arrived at the clinic on time.

The X-ray results revealed that he had broken one of his hind legs, and the wound on the other hind leg was seriously infected, with maggots still consuming his rotting flesh.

Because of his fragile state, he was placed on an intravenous drip to stay hydrated, and after nearly a week, he is finally ready for the limb amputation procedure.

The vet has noticed another health issue, this time a wound on his nose. The skin test confirmed that it is Sporotrichosis, a chronic skin infection caused by the fungus Sporothrix schenckii.

This would be another difficult case for us, and necessary precautions would be required when handling Pororo because Sporo is highly contagious, not only to animals but also to humans.

The vet performed the leg amputation surgery efficiently and without complications. Pororo will need to be quarantined and will be on antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, a strong antifungal drug (intraconazole), a liver supplement, an immune booster, a daily wound clinic, and Nano water spray to help cure the sporo lesion on his snout and leg.

The total cost of limb amputation operation, ward fees, wound dressing, X-ray, skin test, and medicine is RM1340. We critically need the aid of 1340 kind-hearted animal lovers to pay RM1 each person to Pororo's medical fees.
